Newark Airport to Manhattan transfer
When you plan your Newark Airport to Manhattan transfer in advance you have one less thing to worry about. When travelling from Newark Airport (EWR) to Manhattan I recommend you choose between the taxi or the shuttle bus.

There are taxis outside the airport. However, a taxi from Newark Airport to Manhattan can easily cost $95 to $110. Whatever you decide, only take a legal taxi even if someone approaches you with a taxi deal, those are illegal gypsy cabs.
Shared Small Shuttle Buses
These shuttles will take you directly to the hotel or private residence where you are staying. It costs $20 from Newark Airport to Manhattan. They are a great way to travel to Manhattan from Newark Airport but most buses only go up to 125th Street in Manhattan. The shuttles take a bit longer than a taxi as they have to drop off several people along the way. Book your seat on the shuttle bus before you go. You will get a voucher via email that you have to print out. You will find the shuttle buses at “Ground Transportation” at every terminal in Newark Airport. Shared small shuttle buses run all day and all night, so don’t worry if you arrive later than planned.
Private Car or Limousines
If you don’t want to share your transfer, book a private car instead. These are luxurious cars, the bigger private limousines fit up to 6 people and the vans even fit up to 9 people. Often they are surprisingly affordable. Prices start $21 per person.
There is a train that connects Newark Airport with Penn Station in Manhattan. The train ride costs $13. To get to the train station you first have to take the AirTrain at one of the terminals. Tickets for the AirTrain cost $5.50. Once in Manhattan you’ll have to take a subway or taxi to your hotel. This is my least favourite way to travel from Newark Airport to Manhattan.
